Karim Ghobrial-Sedky, MD
Dr. Karim Ghobrial-Sedky has been the Family Health Centers of San Diego Psychiatry Program Director since its inception. He is board-certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, sleep medicine and addiction medicine. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He speaks English and Arabic.
He graduated from Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt. He completed his psychiatry residency at Drexel University (formerly known as MCP Hahnemann), as well as a child and adolescent psychiatry residency in the same program. Dr. Sedky have held several leadership and educational positions including the director of the inpatient unit at Hershey Medical Center, medical student educational director at Cooper University Hospital/Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CUH/CMSRU) and the psychiatry program director at CUH. Dr. Sedky has a passion for teaching, education and research. He has several awards, including a Residency Award for Research Excellence, Penn State Milton Hershey Resident’s Award for Teaching Excellence and was recognized by Cooper Health System and Rowan University in 2018. In addition, he was the recipient of the Techiner Award in 2021 to support the psychodynamic curriculum development at CUH program. He has been involved in both ADMSEP and AADPRT over the years. In addition, Dr. Sedky is well published and is very interested in the intersection between psychiatry, addiction and sleep medicine. |
